Caring for the Environment

Addressing climate change

Australia needs to immediately implement a comprehensive set of policies to address climate change and global warming.

A national water policy

An ecologically sustainable national water policy should be developed, which conserves rainwater and surface water runoff and phases out and discontinues the use of ground water.

Tackling deforestation

Widespread land clearing and deforestation should cease immediately and a national reforestation program should be implemented.

Sustainable land management

Sustainable land management practices should be adopted as the basis for land use, agriculture, mining and industrial development.

Averting the biodiversity crisis

Economic development should be based on ecological practices to help avert the escalating biodiversity crisis.
